The Big Picture – Compliance and knowledge management in today’s law department
A compliance program, at its core, represents a knowledge-management challenge. Quite a few of the elements of an effective program (certainly as measured against the standards contained in the Sentencing Guidelines for Organizational Defendants) center around the capture and dissemination of information, including data. The creation of policies on important topics, uncovering possible compliance failures, training employees and others about the standards against which their behavior will be measured and other aspects of a compliance program all revolve around the management of knowledge.
